Don is a business-minded attorney with a passion for practical problem solving.  He serves his clients as an “outside in-house counsel” by learning the business, proactively assessing risk, and implementing practical solutions that improve efficiency and align with business objectives.  Don has broad general corporate experience, including commercial contracts, corporate governance, legal operations, compliance, and data privacy.

 

Prior to launching HerbeGC, Don was senior corporate counsel at Diebold, Inc., a publicly traded information technology company, where he helped build their global compliance program, served as general counsel to the global supply chain, and learned firsthand how legal counsel converges with business strategy and operations.  Prior to that, Don was a senior associate at Squire Patton Boggs, where he litigated complex commercial and white collar cases from Paris to Los Angeles to Cleveland.

 

Don graduated cum laude from Ohio Wesleyan University with a major in Accounting and summa cum laude from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.  After law school, Don served a two-year clerkship in the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio with The Honorable Nancy A. Vecchiarelli (retired).  

 

Don lives in Hudson, Ohio with his wife and three children.  He enjoys family, sports (especially football), responsible citizenship, and working on his yard and home.
